Oncology Seminar
On April 29, UH SNPhA’s Cancer Initiative was able to collaborate with UH SSHP to host their second Oncology Seminar. During this seminar, Dr. Onye Ononogbu, a hematology/oncology pharmacist from Harris Health was able to share her journey with SNPhA from pre-pharmacy to post-graduate and talk about how she became involved in the oncology field. Dr. Telyssa Anderson spoke about how to obtain an oncology residency, gave advice on obtaining a specialty clinical pharmacy position, and her experience working at MD Anderson. Finally, Dr. Meghna Trivedi, current faculty at UHCOP spoke on her cancer research, where she thinks the future of oncology research is going, and how to get involved in research as a pharmacy student. Students also played a Kahoot trivia game to test their knowledge about the cancer disease state and chemotherapy. Lilly Grove Baptist Church Health Fair
On Saturday, April 27, UH SNPhA & TSU participated in the Lilly Grove Baptist Church Health Fair. Students provided blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol screenings, as well as education on stroke, kidney health, mental health, and the pharmacy profession as a whole. Having participated in this event for more than 20 years, we always enjoy coming back and educating patients on lifestyle modifications and performing interventions which have a lasting impact on overall well-being. Last General Meeting
On April 25th, UH SNPhA held its last general meeting of the year. Members were informed about national officer positions, the National Convention, and upcoming end-of-the year events. We also heard from guest speaker Dr. Boxin Xu, a UHCOP alumnus and former Smoking Cessation co-chair as he shared with us his road to residency and experiences within SNPhA. #UHSNPhA #StrengthInPurpose #TransformTheNorm #Region4AccomplishingMore
Stress Less Event
Yesterday, April 22nd, SNPhA’s Mental Health initiative hosted their Stress Less Events just in time for finals! This interactive workshop focused on keeping our mental health in check as we enter finals week, the importance of stress management, and shared healthy stress relievers. Members also got to de-stress with a DIY slime making activity! Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday!

Transition Meeting
On Friday, April 19th UH SNPhA held its officer appreciation/transition meeting. Incoming officers had the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn more about expectations and event planning, and ask current officers questions.
