SNPhA members volunteer at Glazier Health Fair
UHCOP students performed blood pressure and blood glucose screenings on senior citizens. We also did medication review for senior citizens that had questions about the medications they were taking. Students raised awareness for diabetes by counseling patients and making recommendations when their screenings were out of range. Major thanks to Ms. May Woo, our preceptor for coming and helping us with the event! For more photos, please click here!
August 1st, 2015 - UH SNPhA at Health Rx Scripts Grand Opening
"UH-SNPhA collaborated with our neighboring chapter, Texas Southern, to host a health fair honoring the opening of fellow NPhA member and Texas Southern alum, Dr. Joesph T. Lee’s, very own pharmacy, cleverly named Health Rx Scripts Pharmacy. Both SNPhA chapters along with help of Dr. Lee, serviced the Lawndale/Wayside community by providing free health screenings such as blood pressure and glucose checks, medication counseling, HIV testing from a local agency and all the while encouraging citizens to donate blood to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Patients were also accommodated to their needs if Spanish speakers were needed to translate as well. The event was an overall success due to pure efforts of reaching out to community members, offering translational services and lastly having avid SNPhA members, along with an enthusiastic pharmacist, eager to establish a good rapport with this particular community. Thank you Dr. Lee for your help and we at UH-SNPhA wish you nothing but the best with your pharmacy!
